You want to make sure that all your data is transferred safely when you update your Android phone. Luckily, Google makes transferring your messages, call logs, contacts, music, and photos to your new phone easy.
- Go to Settings > Google > Backup - you'll be prompted to use Google One if you've never backed up your phone before.
- The Backup page shows how much storage space you have available and what was previously backed up
- You can also do an instant backup. So if you plan to transfer your data to a new phone, click “Back Up Immediately.”
- Enter your PIN if you have a screen lock enabled. (You cannot use your fingerprint or face unlock for this purpose.)
- At this moment, your data will be backed up. It may take some time; At this point the backup screen is grayed out.
